How do numbers make pictures? Computers are able to store pictures as code and display them on the screen with pixels, in this project I learned how they remember images, now you have the same knowledge. If you know about computers you know that they operate on binary code. They use this same idea to remember which pixels to light up for the saved image. In the activity we presented we showed this property of a computer but without the technology. Instead we used a white board with a grid and we had numbers to the right of the rows that showed which units to color in. it looked like the photo below.
So now lets go over the code, starting with the first row, do you notice how the colored spaces correspond with the code? 1: one white space to start, 3: three black squares, 1: one white square at the end. It is that simple for most of this drawing but if you look at where it starts with 0, its showing that it starts with a colored square and the number after 0 is how many colored ones before switching to white.
